About Local Access Fees on Your GFiber Bill
GFiber’s agreements with local governments vary by city. These agreements outline how local governments are compensated for access to roads, public rights of way, and other areas we need to build and maintain our network.
100% of the fee goes directly to your local government.
Historically, local access fees were often tied to TV service. In areas — like San Antonio — GFiber has always included a local access fee with internet service. In areas where GFiber originally covered these costs through TV service fees, the transition away from traditional TV to streaming options has changed how local governments are paid.
The fee is typically a small percentage of your total monthly bill. The exact amount depends on your location and the services on your account.
You’ll see it listed as Surcharges and Other Taxes under the Extras section of your GFiber bill.
