What's the Multi-Gig Router?

If you’re a 2 Gig, 5 Gig, or 8 Gig GFiber customer, your internet service may have come with a GFiber Multi-Gig Router

During your installation appointment, a technician installed the Multi-Gig Router and a Fiber Jack (this is the spot where internet enters your home along a fiber cable). The Multi-Gig Router works with the Fiber Jack to provide internet service for your home network.

Wi-Fi 6

Your router has Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) capabilities, which gets you up to 800 Mbps Wi-Fi speeds when using Wi-Fi 6-capable devices.

Dual-band Wi-Fi

Simultaneous dual band Wi-Fi, with 2.4GHz (4x4) and 5GHz (4x4), automatically selects the best signal for your devices using band steering. In other words, it works to optimize your Wi-Fi and keep you connected at top speeds without you even noticing.

Ports

  • The three yellow gigabit Ethernet ports can be used to connect your devices directly to the router for download and upload speeds up to 1 gigabit.
  • One red multi-gig Ethernet WAN port for symmetrical upload and download speeds up to 1Gig with a direct connection
  • The silver 10 Gbps Ethernet port is the fastest port. You can connect your device here using an ethernet cable (just make sure it’s Cat5e or higher) to receive the maximum speed that is available for your plan.
    • Silver multi-gig Ethernet port enables:
      • 2 Gig plan:
        • When using the Ethernet Connector with applicable FJs: symmetrical upload and download speeds up to 2Gbps with a direct connection.
        • When using the Optical Connector (GFLT210 ONT): up to 2 Gbps download and up to 1Gbps upload speeds with a direct connection.
      • 5 Gig plan: symmetrical upload and download speeds up to 5 Gbps with a direct connection.
      • 8 Gig plan: symmetrical upload and download speeds up to 8 Gbps with a direct connection.
    • The ‘super speed’ USB 3.0 port can be used to charge your devices.
    • The Multi-Gig Router is also compatible with GFiber Phone service using one of the gigabit Ethernet ports.
